Rotation
By Jed Moffitt

I am so happy and fat
I lay here on my belly facing sideways staring at the wall
I suppose I could do less, and then less again
Until I did nothing at all

And what if the less I did
The happier I got
Until, at last, my agenda
I completely forgot

The sun spins and the world turns
The winner wins and the moment burns
The sinner sins and the child learns
|The poker player shades his eyes
Lovers come together, they draw apart
Who knows the secrets of the workings of the heart
Who knows the target for the trickster’s dart
The arrow flies
A child is born, an old man dies

We gotta get our act together and get something done
Look at everything that is happening
Every day, under the sun
Shall we thrust in our swords
And plunder with all our might
From the first light of morning
Until the middle of the night

Electric piano solo

Words are like sticks playing tricks in our ears and in our minds
I can argue both sides of the point
And tangle myself up in ridiculous binds
We say that we love…we feel it burn
It comes and it goes, and we learn what we learn
And love keeps looking for what it looks for
And it finds what it finds

The sun spins and the world turns
The winner wins and the moment burns
The sinner sins and the child learns
The poker player shades his eyes
Lovers come together, they draw apart
Who knows the secrets of the workings of the heart
Who knows the target for the trickster’s dart
The arrow flies
